TeamViewer configuration determines account assignment, unattended access, connection approval, allowlists, and other authorization controls. Local inspection can establish which settings and version are present, but a registry query alone does not recover an unattended password or demonstrate an authentication bypass. When reviewing a suspected TeamViewer vulnerability, require a named advisory, an affected platform and build, stated prerequisites, and a demonstrated authorization impact.
# inventory the TeamViewer version and configuration, then match a named advisory
reg query 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\TeamViewer' 2>nul
# inspect account assignment, unattended access, approval, allowlist, and MFA policy
Exploitation notes#
- Distinguish configuration weakness from a product vulnerability: permissive unattended-access policy is not an authentication-bypass CVE.
- Claim stored-password recovery only when a documented method applies to the exact product version and protection scheme.
- Fingerprint the build and match any vulnerability claim to its exact advisory before assigning impact.
- Review unattended access separately from version-specific authorization flaws.
